Genre: Dissident metal
For fans of: Bethlehem | Shining | Killing Joke

Biography:
“Some bands, some artists, some albums stand alone. They don’t slip neatly into a genre pigeonhole; they don’t readily display a host of obvious influences and inspirations, they don’t toe the party line or say all the right things to woo fans to their banner. Trent Griggs is such an artist, ThrOes are such a band and This Viper Womb is most definitely such an album.
This Viper Womb grew at its own pace, coming into being over a number of years. It is the worldview, the philosophy, the truth of Trent Griggs. Every element of this music, every word of these lyrics has been crafted meticulously to convey this truth. With the assistance of notorious Australian metal scene vocalist, James Ludbrook and current Suffocation drummer, Kevin Talley (also ex-Misery Index, ex-Six Feet Under, ex-Dying Fetus and a host more) Trent Griggs has brought an incredible extreme metal album to life; wild and unrestrained yet perfectly planned – chaos within structure, structure within chaos.
With the established ‘rules’ of metal having little relevance toThrOes, Griggs, like other great pioneers, has created his own genre – Dissident Metal...population one.

I stand by the fact that I feel ThrOes does not sound like anything else in metal” the band mastermind explains. “I feel it is in opposition to 90% of metal on a stylistic and thematic level and I do not care one bit about belonging to a group or limiting my style to a few enforced adjectives by authorities I do not follow.”

Welcome to This Viper Womb. There is knowledge to be found here, there are lessons to be learned. There is thrilling, original music and a sound like no other. This is Dissident Metal. This isThrOes!”

~~~~~~~~~~
Permanent Midnight
Is just hot off the press and when I say hot I mean boiling point hot, the hot that obliterates the audial with no mistake as these aggressors tear strips from the tender listening components and show no mercy while they do it. The sizzling rawness that protrudes will have the speakers emitting smoke!
Permanent Midnight
Shock to the Guts
Here the vocal blasting shapes the track with its extreme and to the point curdling, the overwhelming menace goes that one stage further and pummels with severe ferocity. Striking with sublime and lingering magnetism will be more than a shock to the guts when one feasts on its power.
Dead Lights
Another stirring track that paves the way for a malignant fest of ‘more than’ grouchy, but utterly vicious temperament and savage devouring. The vocal surging is deadly and exudes from the silver tonsils of Trent Griggs and additional vocals by James Ludbrook who attack with extreme intensity.
Conscience Makes Cowards
Is a rather slower paced ensemble of cautious strings that are strikingly powerful and imposing! However, the caustic tones push it forward into a bombastic frenzy while still housing a potent melody.
Nothing left for the Vultures
Firing with a rabid intensity and vulgar aggressive snarls that are not afraid to attack the track emerges as a melodic venture but with added sting in its vicious tail and fuelled with a deep creative antagonistic flair.
ThrOes promotional Video
Nowhere Else
Reveals more impressive and thrilling vocal encounters that go on rewarding. The music spirals into a venomous rhythms that is equally matched. The tempting ferocity and vehemence propagates a chilling new depth.
This Viper Womb
The bands title track possesses a sinister edge that gathers attention as it wraps itself melodically around the ears and grips with an iron fist of malevolence, continuing to blend in its beguiling sounds.
Lavish the Anguish
Hits the ground running in an all-out bid to be the best. The deep blistering riffs converge on the audial and swamp it with a resounding proposal of madness. This is no shrinking violet! Enticing with brutal chaos that lies within a sonic drum beat courtesy of Kevin Talley.
Feed It
Brewing and brooding, this track takes leaves of its probably now numb senses and eagerly drenched in its own character, is hard hitting and pulverising, while the vocal scourge is urgent and disturbing.
D.N.A. Corruption
Slowing things down to a more amicable pace this track weaves an eerie path of contempt and yet still has the listener gripped with eager appeal and urgency. The musical adventure just took a diverse turn and its exploits are bold.
Summary
From the off this album will leave its mark imprinted on the brain and definitely on the ears! It grows like an out of control fungus, infecting all it touches. There is a demonic feel incorporated in its muscular stride, for this is an album that knows not how to take small steps.
The mood is one of utter control and take control it will, so say goodbye to your senses as you slot this one into the player. It will capture, devour and grip the attention like no tomorrow and may provoke madness truth be told, as the tracks unfold.
At the end of this album the listener will no doubt feel they have had every muscle ‘spent’ they will ache, their ears will bleed and literally there will be ‘nothing left for the Vultures’ as the flesh will have diminished from the bone!
No matter how many words I write it probably won’t do this collection of songs justice. And yes, It’s more than just an album – it truly is unique and an experience well worth taking even if to push you well outside your comfort zone! Although for me, well I am happy in this zone of extremity!
It is difficult to imagine something, as intense as this, but Dissident Metal clearly holds a place in the strong metal community. MakingThrOes “The standard of excellence by which all others will be judged!” - Pagan
2010 - A New-Revolution-Kush-Kills-CD-Sampler (distributed on Drowning Pool’s tour)
Genre: Industrial Rock
Biography:
Projekt F was founded in 2006 by John M. Miller, lead singer and main composer of the band. Inspired by rock/industrial/metal music of the 90s, Projekt F quickly made a name for themselves in the underground music scene of Montreal. Miller was joined by William Hicks (bass) in 2010, Simon Sayz (guitar) in 2013, and Fred Linx (drums) in 2014.
Their first EP named 0000 saw the light of day in 2009 with 500 physical copies made by the band being sold out in no time, and more than 1000 digital copies downloaded. Continuing to evolve in the Montreal Industrial scene, the band accumulated a large number of shows across the Province of Quebec and Ontario with their musical originality and their intensity on stage. In 2012, the band was invited to play alongside Combichrist at the biggest industrial music festival in Canada, Kinetik Festival. During the last few years they have shared the stage with international bands such as Motionless in White, Revolting Cocks, Angelspit, Nachtmar, Left Spine Down, Slaves on Dope, New Year’s Day, For Today and Ice Nine Kills.
Projekt F has also had the opportunity to do a performance of their song ‘Room 13’ in a TV pilot called ‘Cause and Effect’ (produced by Vaas Media). Their song ‘Oophorectomy’ is also featured in a short movie called ‘Purple Love’ (produced by Les films de la meute), featured at the 2013 Cannes Festival.
Taking a darker and more personal musical road, Projekt F launched their album ‘Skins’ in 2013 and 2014's EP "Under the Skin", which is now followed by their newest EP, ‘The Butterfly Effect’ set for release on March 4, 2016. It is said to be a direct sequel to their previous conceptual effort ''Skins!” - Pagan
~~~~~~~~~~~

The Butterfly Effect is far from subtle but from an industrial project such as Projekt F that comes as no surprise. Its harsh cold abrasiveness steels the limelight but only just, being one of the shortest tracks on the EP.

Tongue is a superb track that swamps with fortitude and grouchy tones – it levels the ears with a rambunctious attack! The cleaner vocals don’t do the track justice though, in my humble opinion. However the music is punchy and solid leaving nothing to the over active imagination!

Cut Your Wings sees another cold abrasive torrent of pulsing madness as sweeps over the audial like a tsunami and no doubt will have hardened Industrial fans going ape on the dance floor and throwing shapes!

Unbegun begins with a stomping jealous magnitude of brutality! Its rasping vocals cut like a knife through butter, and infect with utter ferocity! Its rebel rousing madness is captured with some scintillating synth and brutalized beyond compare!

03:47:09:08:1945 Again a short track but none the less sinister and foreboding. It gives the guitar a chance to prove its worth as it sonically tempts, gliding through its deep paces.

Fatman is a faster paced smoldering track that bites with full on fueled aggression! It is not for the faint of heart and rampages coarsely, however it slows briefly to allow a clean vocal until it twists back to its original state and continues to snake and twist until the end of its emotional life!

When the Angel Fell from the Sky is the final track and is the only dream-like creative one on the EP. It harbours a deep resonating tone that carries it through its paces. The piano is melancholic and poignant. It offers a chance to close the eyes and dream as the landscape opens up to some very sophisticated sounds.

It has been an absolute pleasure to embark on this journey of industrial splendor. The sounds go from brutal to sophistication and show what a band of this caliber can achieve.

For the most part it will have hardened industrial followers showing what they are worth on the dance floor, glow sticks and bright lights abound, but the final track holds a particular emotional beauty that cannot be ignored.

Loving this…..

Scarleth
The Silver Lining
9 Track Album
Released 21st April 2016

Scarleth – Ukraine, Russia

Links:
https://www.facebook.com/scarlethmetal

Genre: Female-fronted melodic metal, modern metal

Biography:
“Scarleth are a remarkable and experienced Ukrainian metal band playing music on joint of modern heaviness and diverse melodism. For the time being the band has played several hundreds of live shows, released two full-length albums worldwide and took part in festivals where Sergey Mavrin, Cherniy Obelisk, Dark Lunacy and other famous bands performed. Band’s style is expanding constantly and represents mind-blowing mixture of many melodic genres - from power, folk, doom and gothic metal to modern/progressive metal. Band completely deserves to be called one of the most outstanding young musical representatives of its style!”

~~~~~~
Night of Lies – The scene is set for drama inspired encounters going all-out to engage and infiltrate to its fullest capacity in this myriad of complex notes. The beautiful tones of Oksana lilt in all their glory to a fast pace of drums and luscious keyboard. The strong bass guides the track on its journey. Altogether with a mix of beauty and the beast vocals and a catchy temperament it is one superb track!
Double Memory – The keyboard reigns supreme on this the bands second complex track and reaching its goals early on! Again that bass is punchy and gives the ears something to relish! Its fast and busy pace is just so irresistible, creating its own character of sumptuous rhythms.
The Gates of Dark Sun – Sounding quite eastern in its delivery, the energy flows through its mighty veins providing a very hypnotic track with heartfelt passionate vocals. Stirs a lot of emotion and holds a deep raw magnetism.
Voices – Is startling as it is dramatic and straight away the compelling rhythms bubble and grow showing a riveting provocation as the sound blossoms fiercer in a very adventurous landscape.
Dying Alone - As the track begins the velvet notes of the keyboard swells with a potent force. Although it is a lot slower than the previous ones, it is none the less dramatic and satisfying, showing great imagination and creativity
One Short Life – This track shifts direction from Eastern and goes in for the kill with an impacting Viking flavour! Such diversity is remarkable! Its tempest is catchy and forceful and clearly showcases the bands talents.
Before the Night falls – is urgent and sensational in its approach as it unleashes a caged beast! You can feel the torrent of magic that expels through the speakers as the track gets underway! Oksana’s vocals take on a lower key proving superb range while the guitars spring to life.
Pure Desire – Hits with a metal flavour and shows no sign of letting up – together with the magical keyboard and vibrant electric frets it is a race through time! Also worth noting are the exceptional lyrics, which prove they have a welcome maturity to add to their very catchy sound. A very desirable track indeed!
Last Hope – Gives the bass a chance to shine as it gets started. The rampageous hooks hit hard and burst into a dynamic landscape of atmospheric lures. Clever use of guitar too! And mixed in are some superb keyboard notes that give it that haunting melody.
This is one immense album that holds everything in vivid colour for the audial. It rouses in all the right places and can also be very melancholic. Dynamic and dramatic are just two words that can describe what Scarleth have produced. Everything holds a certain potency that needs to be explored, savoured and sampled.
It will seduce you and it’s compellingly engaging from start to finish. Simmering in a mature attitude that is fire and brimstone one minute and hauntingly beautiful the next. Scarleth have ticked all the right boxes so it is time to sample what they have on offer and believe me you can’t be disappointed with this proving there is definitely a silver lining! -  Pagan Tordengrav
Without Mercy
Mouichido
4 Track EP
Released 27th May 2016
"Unmerciful!"
Without Mercy – Abbotsford, BC
Links:
Genre: Metal
Biography:
The EP is technically a re-release of re-recorded material with their new vocalist and bassist plus Mark Hunter of Chimaira on track 'In Waves'. If you're a fan of Lamb of God, Pantera, Gojira, Decapitated, Cannibal Corpse then this is one to check out.
Here's quoted text from the press release to sum it up.
"It's been two years since Vancouver, BC's WITHOUT MERCY last EP 'Reborn' savaged the lands of Canadian metal. After hitting the studio with a new vocalist Alex Friis and bass tracks recorded by Tristan Martin and live performance being done by Ryan Loewen, the band is ready to unleash its latest offering 'Mouichido', a re-release of re-recorded material from their 2014 EP 'Reborn'. Newly added to EP is also a guest appearance by vocalist Mark Hunter of Chimaira on track 'In Waves'. 'Mouichido' is set for release on May 27th, 2016.
Play it loud! \m/\m/
~~~~~~

Worthless – This can hardly be described as ‘worthless’ as the roaring tones hit home with resounding effect! The damming frets bite with ferocity and leave a lasting impression on the audial canal, cutting and making them bleed with its vibrant and empowering lures. You can feel the hate coarsing through your veins as the mighty strides of pure venom head straight for the skin and infect it with chaotic and manic tones. It is just what the doctor ordered!

In Waves ft. Mark Hunter of Chimera – This one also cuts like a knife as you are exposed to some good old metal brutality! It festers with rabid and insane beats and harsh unmerciful rhythms. The audial is kicked into submission with exciting fierce energy that licks with a spiked tongue and likely to remove the flesh from the body!

Burn – is again a frenzy of raw power that will incinerate the ears on listening! Its harshness shows no mercy and is very apt just like the band’s name! Reflecting the imposing side of its dark nature, this track literally does more than burn!

Morphine – begins with a sample and some agitated guitar, warning of something ‘disturbing’ but only for people of a nervous disposition! The rest of us will wallow in its erupting rhythms and evocative irritability with ease.

A superb 4 track EP that just gives us a brief taster of what ‘Without Mercy’ are all about, and it isn’t difficult to comprehend either! – More please!

Tenacious and infectious it does what it sets out to do and that is pique the interest on engaging and captivating levels – the notes serve to compel the listener to higher ground with soaring frets, bludgeoning beats and rip roaring vocal extravagance!

Utterly faultless and to the extreme! Utterly delicious!  Pagan Tordengrav

Death Lullaby - Let them sing you awake!

Biography:
“It is inevitable that many bands today focus and depend on technology or image but completely forget what it feels like to be in a violent, hard hitting, and charismatic and professional metal show. Mounted from A to Z for choreography, light show, and stage presence, the band is not only known for the music, but giving the people what they want; a notorious live show & a run for their money!”

~~~~~~
From the off the exuberance is executed in beautiful melodic and brutal form. With classical piano and hardy vocals, but shuts off after one minute and six seconds, however, it is a grand opening track that gives you just a quick sample of what’s to come!
The second track ‘We won’t live forever’ is another wyhiwyg (what you hear is what you get) moment. The frantic vocal scourge is brooding and fuelled with malice as the vitriolic musical madness guides it on its journey, manifesting as an unyielding melodic rampage.
‘Renegade’ is a low end growl of seducing rhythmic intrigue that swamps the aural igniting into a seething mass of emotions – all of them enhanced with sheer intoxication.
‘Strife’ becomes ever challenging as the scale is upped another notch from brutal to savage, once again kick starting the emotions as it ladles the virulence towards the audial and rips you a new one!
‘Conquer All’ murderously portrays yet more venom as Death Lullaby up the anti and shows further menace. This is new metal with classic melody and pure energy at its best.
‘Anachrony’ is an all no nonsense track that simply bursts forth and multiplies its intensity! It levels anything that remotely is in the upright position with a searing madness and harsh vocal imagery. The track is aloof and leaves one on a different astral plane.
‘Wormz’ The title track of this magnificent album and Death Lullabyshow another side of their hostility but weaved into its strenuous tendrils are powerful drumming and rapturous riffage that simply smothers like bindweed to the brain!
‘Dethrone the Grower’ the toxic malevolence continues on this track. The raw vocal scathing brandishes the sword and simply cuts with exciting consequences. Backed with gripping confrontation and caustic prowess it quite simply devours on contact!
‘Cycles’ is powerful in the drumming zone and exciting in the vocal zone, together the riffs instinctively pull the madness together, its sound festers with a heavy content and consumes with a forked tongue!
‘Devolution’ is entangled with a vibrant hellish lure that evolves with sure fire credibility, recruiting its victims with sheer fuelled emotion, never letting up for a second. This is one commanding track that demands attention.  Pagan Tordengrav
‘Rainmaker’ we are already at the end of this album – tempus fugit as they say! Times simply does fly as each track mesmerizes in such a way time stands still. There is still the classic piano that engages and adds a little spice but it still owns intrusive and dynamic bruising and an unmerciful vocal that is all cleverly put together and executed with sheer brilliance.
Summary:
The name alone is startling in the fact that Death Lullaby give you what you want from the start. Their new metal stance of dual vocal, harsh and clean mold together and become addictive. The classical piano notes adding to that superb edge from a very urgent sound while the drumming and riffs power on every level, add in a very strong bass hook and Death Lullaby are born.
This album is untamed, unyielding and it definitely bites!  Pagan Tordengrav
Auðn
8 Track Re-Released Album
Black Plague Records
Reissued 15th December 2015
Auðn – Iceland
Links:
https://www.facebook.com/audnofficial
Genre: Atmospheric Black Metal
Biography:
“Founded in 2010, Auðn focuses on the atmospheric and melodic elements of black metal!”
~~~~~~

Klerkaveldi – (Theocrasy) Not as I had expected although the track does give off an air of blackness and foreboding as you would expect. Nestling into its dark genre the Icelandic crew offer a cold and aloof view of catchiness that bristles with jagged expression.

Undir Blodmana – (Under the Bloodmoon) The severity of this heavy laden track knows no bounds and proves these Icelandic monsters know how to get a reaction. It homes in on possessing a melodic eagerness that captivates wholeheartedly, while still being menacing and harsh.

Sifreri – (Permafrost) This track swaggers with ripe riffs and solid beats that possess a cold front – well Iceland does tend to colour the imagination with a certain bleak attitude, however it also holds intrigue by the bucket load too and it is swathed in black ambiance adding to its rich textures.

Feigd – (Harbingers of Death) is a stark look through the eyes of a black metal band. The cold tendrils of ice never melt through-out this turbulent but antagonistic track. It edges and broods on constant levels of demonic absurdity while snarling with virulence!

Landvaettur – (Spirit of the Land) offering a heavier gait that protrudes from its ugly veins. This track savagely attacks and smoulders while beating itself over the head with a pitch fork! Stealing attention and running head on to embrace its own animosity.

Pjaning heillar Pjodar – (Pjaning charms Pjodar) this track is rather uplifting with a stark reality of strings that weave a superb web of deceit. I say deceit because its tendrils of choking blackness soon emits a force to be reckoned with. Savagely bruising the brain with seething voice.

Auðn – (Desolation) the title track broods with certain flair if that is the correct word its heavy slither of creativity is astounding. It shows the villain in its true glory. It isn’t all black and it definitely isn’t white, but remains in a grey void. It is still black metal but without all the embellishment of a symphony behind it. However, its magnitude of black metal intrigue is purposefully guided on an addictive groove.

Sifreri Live - this track allows the listener to hear the band live, no holds barred. The vocals sound pretty impressive with their usual black intensity and gnarliness and backed by a swaggering rhythm that holds plenty to get the teeth into.

Summary:
Well what can I say that probably hasn’t already been said aboutAuðn? They are cold, aloof and definitely black but allow themselves to sample the grey areas in between, which makes them rather interesting.

They have the Icelandic mother tongue behind them and sung in Icelandic too, but it matters little as there is always Google Translate that will cast a light be it dark or light over the proceedings and allow the listener to fully engage in what the band are singing about and not all of it is thoroughly bleak but the music can also say a lot about a band not just the lyrics.

Auðn know how to be infectious and potent and then they open a door into another dimension giving them a head start on other black metal bands. They draw you into their web of intrigue and use it to their advantage.

Their music can start edge and disordered but it will almost grab attention as the track unfolds, it is alluring and persistently brings new and lingering thoughts to the forefront!

I can now see why this album is soon to be re-released – if you didn’t catch it first time round then now is the time to sample a bit of atmospheric black!  Pagan Tordengrav

Spawn of Psychosis
Ministry of Transition
12 Track Album
Dredge Records

Spawn of Psychosis – Maidstone, Kent

Links:

Genre: Metal/Industrial

Biography:
“Spawn of Psychosis are the creative project of founding member and frontman, SPAWN (Chris Dredge). What started out as a bedroom recording when he was 16, over a decade ago and with the addition of more members and a strong work ethic, then became a performing band?

Mixing electronic drums and synth with heavy, ‘thrashy’ guitar, aggressive bass and raw vocals, the last few years have seen these four misfits release over 2 full albums' worth of material and make their mark within the UK's industrial/metal music scene, delivering an energetic live experience with a powerful sound and tongue in cheek attitude.

Now successfully networking with other local artists and promoters and having played alongside bands such as Dope Stars Inc. and KMFDM, Spawn of Psychosis continue to work on new audio assault and seek new opportunities to widen their territory, always making improvements and adding new elements and techniques to their ever growing sound!”

~~~~~~~~~~
All Hail the Men of Blood and Iron
There is an awful lot going on at the beginning of this album and it is a stark reminder that something is afoot and will leave you in no doubt by the time it finishes. Its outstretched arms don’t just pull but drag you into a rich world of deep and insatiable passion that drills in utter preciseness, as the twists and turns forge along its turbulent path.
LVIII
A stark diversion from the previous track apart from the unusual sounds and sampled voice.  The pulsating rhythms fester and thump as the momentum gradually fluctuates into a seething ambience. Its throbbing and colourful melodies are rampant and forthright causing a cerebral haemorrhage as it weaves uncontrollably through tangled rhythms and pumping beats.
Martyr
Continues to breed along the same vein as the previous track with a bristling madness that holds startling qualities. Its disjointed rhythms are awkward yet dynamic! Illuminated with a filthy tone and rambling beats its addictive qualities climb onto the ears like poison ivy as the track unfolds.
Capitalist Courage
This is an all-out brawling frenzy of jagged notes - so sharp they will cut with toxic venom. It is a bit like hearing a record being played backwards as the track doesn’t fall into place as easily as the first three tracks do, and so it is a little too jazzy to fully let yourself go.
The Reason
Possessing a harsh and catchy addictive beat that is sparse, weaving simultaneously as it pushes forward with an infestation of dominant presence, making the invitation to like it too hard to ignore. The vocals are gritty and memorable, and stir up a host of waiting emotions.
La Li Lu Le Lo
The sharp and ambient notes are quickly left behind as the raucous melodies cut through them with powerful, magnified riffs that grip with utter delight. The elements do battle with the senses, casting their dark imaginative rhythms over the ears and with continuing enterprise.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“It is a killer album that will bite given half the chance!”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ministry of Transition
Is the title track of this unusual album, it begins with an antagonistic flair and a certain creeping vibe that explodes into a malignant curse and literally hounds the senses. It reinforces its stark nature further on in the track with passages of sampled voices and harsh female voice. It bubbles with a dark vibrancy that sounds rather sinister in its mission to shock and surprise.
Femme Fatale
The electronic pulses are interrupted by a pounding beat and rather unsubtle tones that hang in the air and mesmerize like a professional hypnotist!  Drenched in a hungry satisfaction, that is alluring as it is catchy and memorable it holds a fresh and predatory character that obviously wants to come out and play.
Purge Hate
The enticement comes as the hard rumbling beats penetrate with a steely core of provocative thunder that douses the ears with a rambunctious melody. Compelling with a rigid but exhilarating enjoyment as its textures inject the hate into a waiting vein.
Digital Degenerate
Anything digital always peaks my attention and this track is no exception to the rule. The terror tones literally engage and fester with potent imagination and forge an irresistible bond with the ears, as the vocals spice up the track with a chant like conviction.
The Damage
Swift and menacing this track is not for messing with as the rhythms merge into escalating madness that breed infectious flirting to the disgusting sampled tones of Adolf Hitler. It creates an absorbing unpredictability that is realised early on in the album, although it keeps on generously giving and showing its true colours as being one harsh track that enjoys being menacing and intimidating.
Shadows
Is a rather uplifting track and leaves behind its harshness and swaps it for a lilting tone of seductive brooding. Although not sure it knows which direction it wants to follow as the vocals seem to want to go in the opposite direction be it for a brief moment. However, it isn’t a bad thing, it is just different!
Summary:
I think this album actually sums up what Spawn of Psychosisare all about. They have brought to the forefront a demonic spirit that is hell-bent on causing the maximum devastation. The music is twisted, dark and full of ambience that works through their ramblings with a certain ease.
There is some great use of the keyboards and drum machine that like spreading pungent tendrils of keenly growing rhythms, with gripping hooks and imaginative vocal lures that in the end whip up a creative flurry of ferocious aspects and conjure up a malignant force of, at times subdued, but all the more dramatic as it nears its end.
This album has a mind all of its own and will no doubt use it to seduce the listener with its creative kiss and seductive leanings.
The transition has finally come for Spawn of Psychosis in the shape of 12 very desirable tracks that are brutal, atmospheric and distinct!
It is a killer album that will bite given half the chance!  Pagan Tordengrav
The moment you listen to ‘Odium’ you get this strange but pleasant feeling in the gut as the slices of sophistication plume from the speakers. Their first track Odyssey is a meandering amble through some very enchanting passages. No words are sung nor spoken but the very depths of the music leaves a lasting impression.
Feral Inversion starts with a striking and refined indulgence that quickly bursts its banks and rages into a torrent of fire and brimstone. The vocals are right up my alley for being integral to warming the cockles of my heart. The asbestos lungs are prevalent along with some amazing rhythms and riffage that cascade over the ears in a familiar vein.
Centipedes however, is a scathing mass of deep and scarring malignance, exceeding its own boundaries for being one meaty mass of superiority and overwhelming in desirable melodic madness.
Return to Form takes on a very sophisticated pattern of dream-like ambiance that suddenly turns coarse with jagged edges of rhythmic prowess, and ready to take the ears by storm.
Delusion again returns back to its dark and ambient state, with an alluring appeal of melancholy until a ripe drum beat swamps the senses and washes it away in a fit of unbridled predation.
Dead is a track that outlines again, the darkness that lies within the bands artistic devilry. It is a magnificent launch into melodic metal madness that strides boldly with murderous intent. The seething vocal hues are fantastic, and leave that moreish flavour on the pallet.
Failure II not having heard Failure I as it is not listed on the album – this track leaves one in a slight quandary as to what this second track leads from, but no matter it is hard hitting with a great range of harmonies and diverse imagination that pushes the bands song writing skills to the limit.
Obsolete once more leaps back to a familiar tone of sophistication and then swaggers into a bristling torrent of awareness leaving the listener in a state of anxious intrigue as it climbs to a provoking level of ‘metal-ness’ its melodic core swells with mouth-watering aggression that subsequently whet’s the appetite.
The Cell is a bounding chugger of tenacious energy that holds plenty of bite, groove and tumultuous endeavour. It is without the glory of a well-bred vocal and concentrates on its musical allegiance.
Redemption sounds like it has been started in the middle of its musical madness, with a rip-roaring magical skill. The vocals are duel offering clean and low end grit that gives the listener a feast of melodious rapture to bury their audial cavities in.
Displacement of Hope starts with a low volume of electronic notes that build gradually and explode into a melee of festering invasion. Merging into its stride is the tempestuous vocal bite along with a superb intensity of increasingly stirring rhythms that decide to dive into the ears and molest them with keen intent.
Summary: This band ‘Odium’ have shown some amazing feats of musical power and energy within their beautifully honed compositions. The superb use of harmonies give the tracks edge and depth. The sinister electronic notes add intrigue and are highly alluring pieces of craft.
It is an album of good versus evil so the listener doesn’t want for anything. Its slower paced beginnings and high end volatile tracks offer a brilliant diverse feel that invade the senses.
Rich and engaging it takes flight and just as easy, in fact within a heartbeat brings a calming feel to the proceedings. The vocals are infectious and addictive giving the tracks clout, seasoned with the right amount of spice that donate bounce and practical appeal to an already bursting at the seams eleven track album.
Internal Demons - Full-length    2009
Point Zero Solution -Full-length 2013
Genre: Melodic Death Metal
Biography:
“The story of melodic death metallers Deals Death began in a music college called Boomtown, where guitarist Erik Jacobson met a couple of other students. With some further twists to the story, with which we need not bother, the band released their self-financed debut ‘Internal Demons’ in 2009 to raving reviews.
In 2009 Deals Death recruited new members in Gothenburg and made the city their base. The second album, ‘Elite’, was recorded in May 2010 in Gothenburg and mixed by Jonas Kjellgren (Scar Symmetry). ‘Elite’ was released in March 2012 via Finland's metal powerhouse Spinefarm Records became their label debut. A promo video was shot for the song ‘Fortified’ and released in April 2011. The clip made waves on the metal scene (surpassing already half a million views) and then, a fortuitous bounce launched Deals Death to a larger than just metal audience, when vocalist Olle Ekman's ‘Death Metal Vocal Exercises’ video became a surprise YouTube hit.
Now, after five years of hard work and dedication, Deals Death has earned their name in the world of metal with tours in Sweden, Finland, Japan and the UK and having shared stages with bands such as Scar Symmetry, Hypocrisy, Dark Tranquillity and making appearances at numerous festivals such as House Of Metal, Rockstad Falun & Sweden Rock; Deals Deathhave just started to reveal the tip of the iceberg to their potential.
The new album, ‘Point Zero Solution’, was forged in the deep woods of Grangärde, Sweden and here is band`s statement of the record:
Deals Death brings good news!
The world is not going to end; it’s only becoming a horrific and gruesome place to inhabit. On September 13th Deals Death will give you the details of this event as they release their third album via Universal/Spinefarm.  Follow this step-by-step description of the process, which breaks down the systems of nature and society. This album contains 11 songs packed with a lyrical edge, delivered with all their blood, sweat and toil!
Having introduced themselves to a wider audience with last year's ‘Elite’, the new album ‘Point Zero Solution’ shows Deals Death's staying power and musical evolution with lush arrangements, deadlier output through and through and melodic hooks catchier than ever before”
Deals Death
Point Zero Solution
The sonic imagery this band conjures up is phenomenal.  It is powerful as it stretches its tendrils of finely tuned and exciting rhythmic swagger to its limits and as you would expect is immense in delivery. Everything aboutDeals Death is precise and professional.  This is a promising start but no less than you would expect for a band of this calibre and well worthy of their reputation.
Facing the Echoes
With a flexible hand the notes come raining down in quick succession – it stands proud on its solid foundation of melodic grooves, and does not need much persuasion to be caught up in what the band have to offer. Vocally stunning, it sends ice cold chills down the spine and is a classic Deals Death moment – it may be some time before the goose-bumps subside as a torrent of melody surrounds you, so be warned!
Escalation
Deals Death are on a mission and they are the kind of band that will not stop until it has been fulfilled and this track bares proof of that as it more than ‘Escalates’ to another finely tuned track of excellence. It holds plenty for the listener to absorb. With a roaring quality that is rarely witnessed it possesses high reaching moments of absolute intrigue, with the band all working together to perfection and it shows this as it incites a pure spark of immense imagination.
Flatline
This track rages under the skin and races around leaving scorch marks – it is like scabies it leaves its mark and apart from that it gets into the brain and provoke involuntary head movements, you will not be able to help yourself – and I wondered why it was getting difficult to type! Forgetting to breathe is another effect this band has over the listener as the track soars to far reaching heights, mesmerising and offers superb fascination.
Passion for Infinity
Haunting, just as it intriguing Deals Death reign down another blow on humanity with sheer and utter abandon. A slower track that gives you something to feast upon with a ravaging vocal and jagged melodies that are so sharp they will draw blood. Antagonistic with uncompromising temptation this track offers a deep and memorable radiance.
The Separation
Atmospheric, with far reaching melodies that will ignite interest with vocal intimidation that will strike the fear of wrath into every soul that listens. The melancholic rhythms send one into a dream like stance whilst once again sending the perpetual goose bumps down the spine.  There is so much going on in this track it is an insatiable force to be reckoned with.
Paramount Authority
This is a track that bounces with a spiteful brutality and brings with it imagery that in turn sparks deep thoughts as it thunders past your ears, extreme and imposing it conquers with a truly unique experience of mesmeric quality and seductive as it spirals and swirls with sheer abandon through the thought process leaving one exhausted at what they have just bared witness to.
Beyond Reason
A really distinct track that takes you on personal journey of dark contemplation and drives rugged emotions to a startling conclusion – it simply enslaves you in its powerfully extreme embrace rewarding the listener with a brutally immense pleasure of rich and fulfilling sounds that will satisfy in abundance.
Dark Dream Dawn
Dark and sinister, yet bright and airy it possesses the soul quickly with tempestuous rhythmic swagger and engrossing perplexities but it comes as no shock as people who have and are following Deals Death will be expecting that and they do not disappoint on that level or any level.
Back to Consciousness
With fierce melodies, powerful rhythms and a vocal scathing like no other, giving attention to the finest detail, this track is openly impressive and provokes the listener with a ferocious and unbridled passion with the ability to make all who listen succumb to its wildly charms.
Author of Arts
Quite a dominating track with its untamed vocal flexibility that niggles the ears with a vicious tongue and showcases Deals Death with their extreme skillful capability producing some fantastic mastery.
To Sum up:
This is one highly intense album that I have had the pleasure and opportunity of reviewing in its entirety and really grateful for that. It prods the senses and leaves one thoroughly satisfied.  It simply bristles with clever precision, and is a raucous breath that when fused together gives out 100% perfection.  Its insatiable appetite serves to feed the hungry masses and delivers a powerful message – Deals Death is a force to be reckoned with and masters of their finely tuned craft – long may they reign supreme.
I cannot find anything negative to say about this album except perhaps it is too short – eleven tracks are just not enough for me, but then again 20 tracks would never be enough. The whole album is magnetic as it pulls you into its seductive creations and wraps you in a blanket of melodic swathe that cannot be rivalled.
If you have not yet heard Deals Death then what are you waiting for? I urge you to go out and get this album, if you like your metal perfected, finely tuned and skillful then this album will be right up your street. Buy it, listen to it and submerge yourself in its extremities of sheer indulgence – you cannot fail to be impressed from start to finish.  It is really hard to pinpoint a favourite track as they all hold something special, but for the extra touches check out ‘Flatline’ and ‘Beyond Reason’ if ever an album paints a picture – this one is the bio tapestry of the metal world.
The Pirates of progressive - Karhu
Written for Demented Magazine
Karhu – UK
http://karhu.bandcamp.com/
Karhu was (for this album only):
Joseph Parry - Bass, Drums, Guitar, Lyrics, Vocals, Mix, Master, Production,
Juani Cummings - Guitar, Lyrics,
Genre: Progressive Metal
Biography:
“A new line-up breeds a new album, though this one being an interesting exception to the rule! Genericist was created by just two people. One of them is long time member Joseph Parry and the other is new guitarist Juani Cummings.
It talks about the generic attitude of society and the media today and reveals the fact that we should fight against it. Continue to push ourselves to greater things.
The album cover was shot in Joe's home studio by that pair taking in turns with the camera.
Joe says "I remember asking Juani what he had mask wise for us to shoot with and he mentioned these old pirate masks from a Halloween gig. One was silver and one was gold, naturally being the douchebag that I am I opted for gold and left Juani with the peasant silver hahaha!  I set up the lighting and took a shot of Juani then we reversed roles, I blended the two shots together in Photoshop, as you can see I'm on the left and he is on the right. Loved how it came out and represents us almost perfectly. Except we're not ‘Piratey’ at all... I even pay for my Photoshop hahaha!"
Acceptance
The first track on the album – is the murderous apocalypse that simply surges into existence with plenty of atmosphere and rolls out a torrent of progressive madness, embellishing the audial chambers with an epidemic of hearty growls and mesmeric beats that calm half way through to soothe and relax the temporal lobe be it for a few minutes before chaos ensues.
Genericist
Is the title track and another fiery offering that eats you alive from the inside and impressively runs with your thoughts and emotions, highlighting them with a demonic malevolence that seizes the moment and rips you a new one before the track even ends.
Solemn
Is exactly what it says on the label? It is very solemn and what follows is a myriad of ambiance that affects the soul from deep within as the frets are simply explored and then consumed.
Attempt I
A harsh pit of deranged madness ensues here. The deep resonating riffs are all smothering, however a brief respite gives the listener time to ponder before being thrown head first into a maelstrom of clean vocals as well as deep infectious growls.
Arch Enemus
As expected the rage carries on but is kicked up several notches to reveal a blistering bedlamic fusion of seething annihilation that knows no bounds. We can observe once again the use of a dual vocal that is clean and urgent to one of festering hearty growls.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“It is consistently unwavering in quality and delivery and a sheer must have for the collection in order to revel in its finery and to fully take part in such sophistication whenever the mood takes you!”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Self-Preservation
No other word for it but a tirade of sheer metal appeal that swamps and turns into a feisty anthemic sound that is extremely moreish and forthright. Likely to desecrate the ears and annihilate the mind.
Genocide
Offers an unforgiving riff and powerfully tempered blast beats that curdle the blood and addle the confused mind. It is a track that holds no mercy as it entangles a tirade of nagging riffs and hard rhythms together leaving you in no doubt that this is one hellish track.
Severance
The heady chugging simply pulverizes and shines its dark elements over eager waiting ears. The screeching vocal surrounds the audial like a warm blanket and completed by a harsh powerful beat that the head can’t ignore.
Endlessly Hopeless
Taking no prisoners this track – indeed the final track of what is one scorcher of an album literally delves into a tasty and ravenous riff that accompanies a solid bass and ferocious vocal, blending together like a familiar recipe that is welcomed and enticed with oodles of pleasing rhythms that go all out to tempt, tease and torture.
Summary:
I have to admit although I have reviewed Karhu previously (less the three band members present at time of recording ‘Survival of the Richest’) I had no idea what this newest offering would bring to the table, and I have to say, I am bowled over at just how much groove has manifested during the making of this album although the progressive moments are ever present, the sheer velocity that is witnessed during this monstrous album are mind-blowing, to say very least!
It is consistently unwavering in quality and delivery and a sheer must have for the collection in order to revel in its finery and to fully take part in such sophistication whenever the mood takes you.
This is not just a progressive album – it is an album that explores deeper, harsher understanding and with it comes the true meaning of what Karhu are all about!
Genre: Bastardized Grind core
Biography:
Fuck the Facts Started out as a recording project in the late 90’s, but it wasn’t until 2001 that the work ethic produced a slew of underground releases and drove Fuck The Facts towards full band status and into the live arena.
From 2006-2011 Fuck the Facts released three albums via underground powerhouse label, Relapse Records. Upon the completion of their contract, the quintet decided it was time to put the finishing touches on the proverbial full-circle, returning to the world of fierce independence and creative control. Their most recent releases were produced entirely at their own studio, self-released, and shows ‘Fuck the Facts’ efforts as an entity continuing to grow musically and personally while developing a deeper understanding of what significance their art holds for them.  As one of the longest running and most recognizable names in Canadian Grind core,FUCK THE FACTS continue to deliver their brand of “Bastardized Grind core” with no end in sight!”
~~~~~~

Well if it is plenty of noise you want then Fuck the Facts are probably a good choice to listen to and if you love grind core then Fuck the Facts are most definitely a good choice to listen to! Either way Fuck the Facts arewithout a doubt are a good choice to listen to full stop!

The squalid throaty servings from Mel and Marc can hardly be told apart, as it has been known for women to tackle this daunting task of grind core before and it has always amazed me just how anyone male or female can carry on screaming, grunting, growling in such a manner without a) choking or b) coughing – just singing along to a grind core track can be difficult – you try it!!

However, Fuck the Facts have had plenty of time to settle into their gigantic grind core stride, and amassed 66.726 fans along the way.

Their name would suggest that I not bother with the facts and maybe start thinking about the music!

OK! Their music has varying intensities of style such as punk, obviously grind core, hard core, d-beat, Death, progressive, electronica and experimental attached to it, which is highly refreshing and exciting to hear.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“It is certainly a no nonsense album and gets down to the ‘nitty gritty’ instantaneously on hitting play and there is no respite from the gorging riffs and monstrous beats that will undoubtedly batter the ears beyond belief, but they do it with a no nonsense air of ‘fuck you!”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The shards of metal antagonise, bastardise and lambaste with plenty of relish. The experimental thrashings create an ambient hue that lurks menacingly while the vocals simple gouge like a pneumatic drill through concrete and catapult the cowering listener into submission.

Desire will Rot it has to be said, is one album that will actually spread tiny splinters of metal in the form of highly charged frequencies that inconspicuously embed themselves into the skin and burn caustically on listening as with each bellowing scream the frequencies respond by moving deeper into your flesh – so this could be one of the most painful but pleasurable listens ever!

The band indeed do ‘a number’ on your audial canal and leave it more than battered and bruised as the assault continues to pulverise until the final note. The limbs of the tracks are so deep and infectious they should come with a health warning, and just like that X rated Horror Movie that states ‘Intimidatingly creepy’ People will make the effort to go all out to see it and I feel the same must happen for this band – although not so easy for people on the opposite side of the world, however, that is what makes the internet so good, and brings together bands of all nations and creed.

If you love having your ears pulled apart and your brain assassinated then look no further than ‘Fuck the Facts’ this band you desire and rot your mind it will!

Just how did they get it right on all fronts – listen and find out!!!

A Phenomena of grand proportions!

Raising the Veil – Vienna, Austria

Genre: Technical Progressive Death Metal

Compactor of Structure
No messing about for this track as the impending sizzle kicks in and goes straight for the jugular in sweeping movements that are heavy and unbridled with a deep demonic passion. The spellbinding vocals entrap you in a scourging brutality while the music’s many attributes are compelling and full of raw emotion due to excessive shredding!

The Gravitation Mantra
The technical swathes of riffage continues with a snarling vocal that persistently hunts you down and devours vehemently. Definitely not for the faint of heart as the monumental structures reach an all-time high with blistering shredding and super caustic throaty lures.

Superdense Coding Schemes
Lowering the pace somewhat to a more manageable level – the guitar dominates with a beautiful magic that the ears savour, but almost in the blink of an eye it turns into a festering mass of pure and unbridled malignance that wallops the senses.

Qubit Computed Multiverse
This is a devilish master-piece that unleashes a total madness of raging keyboard like something from an old fashioned horror movie. It boasts clean singing but mainly low guttural snarling growls that will have you gasping for breath as there is no let-up from the provoking torrent that converges on the audial.

Dark Energy Cam
Aptly titled it broods a festering darkness that displays an equal amount of energy be it of the intense variety. Once more exploding into the realms of an arduous passage that is compelling and volatile.

The Emperors New Mind
The bristling melodic hues flow freely in a torrent of bedlamic proportions. Still infused with a superb flavour of passionate rhythms and shock absorbing low grizzles, collide into a soothing seduction.

Ekpyrotic Model Simulator
The metal brims over in this track as the meaty rhythms stack up to grand proportions with a strenuous vocal. The shredding is so sharp it almost shreds itself! The dynamism knows no bounds as the track continues either, venturing briefly into a more mellow moment that quickly twists back into a malignant haze.

Many Worlds Nostalgia
This is yet more quickening tempos that congeal into yet another thrilling encounter.  The technical rhythms play a dominating role injected with a stabbing drum beat and niggly hooks. It pans out into a dream-like haze of beauty that keeps the track levelled.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“This album is so good it hurts!”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Raising the Veil
This is another impacting track that seethes under its own weight.  Gathering momentum very quickly and runs with it to new heights. Sparking a typical Raising the Veil frenzy of utter madness - a caustic vocal in tow, keeping the track compelling and enthused with slithers of pure melodic rapture.

Keepers of Omniscience
The sampled voice sounds like a demented Dalek on drugs with a similar space-like theme attached to its dark core. The unruly freakish riffs rain down on a brutal overtone of harsh vocal and rips the speakers apart. The punishing rhythms are enjoyably raw and powerful. (Not sure the speakers feel the same way)

The Delegates
The final track sees the use of high screams and brutally low undertones with clean singing thrown in for good measure. The track changes direction to house another mellow moment before imploding into a solid mass of rebellion.

Summary:
When you hear the name Raising the Veil you have some idea of what lies ahead despite the unpredictability of the tracks they always showcase the brutal side along with more technical and mellow margins to the many sides of the coin.

RtV don’t have to explain themselves they just do what they do best and that is to present themselves in the best light (be it dark or light) as possible.

The boundaries are surpassed with ease – at least they make it seem that way! Their virulence melting with sultry hypnotising moments that compel and enthral with devious enterprise take you on a long and involved journey into the land of melodic progressiveness.

RtV know how to make an entrance memorable and noteworthy! Their sound is grazing and bounces with desirable temptation, sizzling past the ears but leaving a lingering intensity and tenacious voracity.

No stone is unturned with Rtv it is all-out antagonism and aggression with finer moments all meshed together so everyone gets that all-round experience.

This album is so good it hurts!

Screaming Beast
Assail and Conquer
3 Track EP
To be released 1st September 2015

Screaming Beast – Manchester

Links:

Genre: Metal

Biography:
“The musical and vocal brainchild of Daniel Mucs of Collibus, Wolfcrusher, Dirty Habit and Not above Evil combined with Anton War, formally of Gridlocked. Groovy, aggressive, punchy, yet powerfully melodic!”

It is hard to imagine Anton minus Gridlocked as this was the band I first saw him exercise his vocal chords in at the Lomax in 2012. They appeared for Metal to the Masses and sadly didn’t win but the performance they gave was brutal.

However, ‘Screaming Beast’ scooped Anton up and they made use of his grazing vocal chords and released a debut E.P entitled ‘Blistering Lies’ in 2014 along with the golden fingers of Daniel Mucs.

This Dawn, this day
The squall of riffs open up this track and bludgeon the ears to death! It bounces emphatically to one conclusion that this is unmistakably ‘Metal’ in every sense of the word and it pulverizes with conviction.

Silent Submission
Is a powerful and gripping track that holds all the epic sounds and corrosive vocals providing an all-out barbaric onslaught that swaggers with immensity, and skilful addictiveness? That only makes you want more of the same.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“It embraces with energy and imagination and doesn’t beat about the bush – it gets down to business with hammering seduction and bruises with dynamic devilry that is hard to ignore!”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Giving into Fear
Is a dreamy haze of guitar that turns malignant as the track opens up and fires on all cylinders, hosting an excruciating chant-like vocal ensemble, and really notches up the ferocity in a heart-felt manner that epitomises the outstanding Screaming Beast set up.

Summary:
Going into this EP with your eyes and ears open to the brutish sounds that congeal around your listening devices is the only way to tackle such heaviness!

It embraces with energy and imagination and doesn’t beat about the bush – it gets down to business with hammering seduction and bruises with dynamic devilry that is hard to ignore.

Exhilarating and swift to blossom (if that is the right word) it has the balls and enthusiastic determination to be compelling and forthright!

My only ‘meh’ moment is it doesn’t last long enough – so I think the guys should seriously knuckle down and produce a full length album in order for people to truly get to grips with their impacting sound once and for all, instead of just teasing the masses.

Each track is raw and fuelled with delicious melodies of that there is no doubt but much more is needed in order to truly whet ones appetite!

Machine Rox – London

Listen and buy here:

Genre: Electro Industrial Metal

Biography:
“Machine Rox began as the solo project of Richard K, the musician/songwriter taking rich experiences and adventures from being part of industrial metallers MEAT MACHINE and GLOBAL NOISE ATTACK, with whom he shared stages with the likes of Rammstein, Napalm Death, and Covenant, into his new creative intent. The project grew with the addition of AGA in 2010, her unique backing vocals and keyboard seduction aiding a new potency which took the well-received strengths of the band’s first two E.Ps to new commanding heights with the “Driven” EP. The recruitment of guitarist VALERIAN OPROIU and drummer NUJ FARROW in 2012 saw the quartet concentrating on lighting up the live arena, which they did with acclaim and accomplished devilry through festival appearances and shows which saw them play with bands such as Leaetherstrip, V2A, and Deviant UK!”

Richard K

Aga and Nuj

Nachtschade
It seems there is no stopping Machine Rox they are an unstoppable force with their punchy magnetic tracks this one being no exception. The sinister hues of ambient magic draws you closer into their seductive rhythms and when they do be prepared for a demonic attack to the audial. It is virtually impossible not to move in one form or another to sounds like this – even if one was encased in quick drying cement!

Mind Control
Again with a sinister ambiance this track launches its devious rhythms on unsuspecting ears. It toys with your emotions and subsequently has you firmly fixed on the target! It’s tempting bursts of raw and unbridled involvement is like metal to a magnet which in turn sends a dark wave of alluring rhythms right down the spine until it cannot tingle anymore!

Move On
This has to be my favourite track on said E.P just for the bubbling rhythms it emits and the anthemic pull that levitates to an all-time high. The sing a long content will have you reaching for the obligatory hairbrush in order to add to the bands tempestuous enterprise, while your body is taken on an irresistible journey that has to be completed. It continues to impress right up to its end and will ensure a superb listen.

_____________________________________________________________
“The drama that is executed within this E.P and rip-roaring exploits will be a great springboard for the next offering by the band – but hard to see how they can better this! Superbly executed!”
_____________________________________________________________

Save the World
This is an incredible amble of sparse keyboard notes that will engage while offering subtle edginess and melodic enterprise. Its message needs no explanation and will leave your senses awakened.

Fall Down
Is a really engaging and thoroughly mesmeric track that captures a riotous feel and one you want to get caught up in on listening and will invariably do so! The vocal grazing is all-encompassing and rich, backed up by fluid ripples of moreish rhythms is a grand recipe for electronic body movements!

Stop telling lies
The bristling waves of pulsating rhythms and beats surround you in a cloak of pure unadulterated madness that twist and turn into a ferocious stomp. Again the mind has to obey such powerful tones and swiftly manoeuvres the body to follow suit so it is 100% thoroughly engaging.

Summary
For EBM enthusiasts everywhere (count me in here) This E.P will roughly caress the senses and awaken your soul with its powerful lures and addictive choruses to the point it will leave you dazed and disorientated in trueMachine Rox style!

It isn’t difficult to get attached to music of this calibre with its mesmerising beats and punchy rhythms – in fact if you can’t you are obviously not long for this world or already dead!

The focus is without a doubt the attention grabbing synth notes (courtesy of Aga who lends her vocals to the tracks as well) that gravitate toward the ears and is an amazing piece of bait that Machine Rox exploit superbly well through-out this E.P.

The drama that is executed within this E.P and rip-roaring exploits will be a great springboard for the next offering by the band – but hard to see how they can better this! Superbly executed!

Go on, go out with the Electric Bang Machine!

Dienamic E.P 2010

Genre: Arctic Death Groove Thrash

With Eivind Kjær Killie, Kenneth Iversen Muotkajærvi, Gustav Harry Lindquist, Stein-Odin Johannessen and Ole Tobias Kvalstotte.

Biography:
“The Norwegian Metaller’s who first formed in 2009 have now produced a second album entitled ‘Afterlife’ which was recorded in April 2014, and mixed/mastered during the summer of 2014.  Preparing for the extensive touring they had coming up, Dienamic had to make for some line-up changes, and early October 2014 saw Sebastian Jacobsson, Kenneth Iversen Muotkajærvi and Eivind Kjær Killie taking up duties on drums, bass and rhythm/lead guitar respectively. At the same time the band signed a very good record deal with Worm Hole Death (IT). Pantera, Motörhead, Foo Fighters, Stonegard, Gojira and Deep Purple lists among many of the bands that have influenced Dienamic’s music!”

The Reaping
This is an ear blasting experience that smashes with a crashing presence and matched with an ever enthusiastic battle cry - vocal battering! The dramatic grooves are pummelling and grandiose inbred with turbulence and spellbinding riffs!

Innocent Gun
Is wild and untamed and spews forth an irrepressible beat that in turn mesmerizes with vicious intent? Intoxicating and raw it engages with pure thrash groove excitement that lifts it to greater heights.

Revolution for Nothing
Is a rampageous romp of brittle riffs and malevolent beats that are complimented by a growling and blistering vocal that is hard edged, constantly devouring in nature and stands its ground to perfection.

Where God feeds
A pure bludgeoning battle of steely riffs, pounding drums, brutal bass hooks and a vocal that reaps vengeance – the track broods with spiced aggression and laced with a remarkable melodic core.

Dance with the Devil
Is spiked with intrigue as well as 'thrashy' elements that are addictive and fast moving. The barbed riffs are compelling and weaved into a barrage of feisty beats that terrorize the ears.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“A rhythmically potent offering is a good way to describe this album. The Scandinavians have the metal scene right where they want it! Dienamic have created this sound that is bludgeoning, while still being fashionably graceful and epic to grand proportions!”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You still walk
Is a track that can boast a heavy stride with a predatory nature and antagonistic qualities?  The heat is on as the exhausting rhythms plough uncontrollably through their paces.

Generation Reboot
The savagery continues with an even faster paced gallop into oblivion. The equally vicious rhythms blend naturally with heavy 'riffage' and steel vocal chords. A highly intimidating track that provides sheer enjoyment, exploding over the ears and melts them with absolute ease!

Overthrown
Nimble fingered and flexible the power is exuded through ripe riffs and caustic beats that gnaw at the senses in a way that ignites into an all-out brawl on the senses.

Afterlife
The title track has a pure black heart and at the center are bold strikes that swipe menacingly at the audial and punishes with vicious intent. Another heavy duty track that shows a diverse side to the bands talents as the track bursts into a crisp medley of strings before turning malevolent once more.

The End
Aptly titled, and is pure beauty personified as it takes a dream like trip to the abandoned corners of the mind before sucking you further into their alluring and cavernous world. The grooves are plentiful while the melodies are strong.

Summary:
A rhythmically potent offering is a good way to describe this album. The Scandinavians have the metal scene right where they want it! Dienamic have created this sound that is bludgeoning, while still being fashionably graceful and epic to grand proportions.

The vocals are unrefined and rough and sit perfectly well on the harvested rhythms and riffs the rest of the band have produced, it’s a great combination that works extremely well.

The band have created a two headed monster that melts the ears as well as caressing them. Predominantly it is a volatile album that spills its metal riffs over an outstanding landscape of brutish melodies, but the band are not perplexed about showing a calmer side to their nature and so within this twisting savagery comes hypnotic strings that leave one astounded by their purity.

So brace yourselves to be totally taken on a turbulent ride that is filled to the brim with creative quality and explosive thrash/groove elements!

Stench of Humanity
Anton's Key

Released 2nd May 2015

Superb new album from Lerch Freyley

Stench of Humanity – Tampa Florida, USA

Links:

Listen here and download for free!!

Download the album to get the BONUS TRACKS. This album is slightly less political in nature. Many of the songs have obscure meanings, however there are some basic profanity filled rants to be heard. As far as GRINDCORE goes, some of the tracks are experimental with their sound.

All instruments and vocals performed by LERCH FREYLEY.

All songs written by LERCH FREYLEY except 'THIS LIVING HELL written by LERCH FREYLEY, BRUCE WILLOUGHBY, and GRAHAM BRADFIELD, and RELIGION IS POISON written by LERCH and VINCENT CROWLEY.

Genre: Extreme Metal, Grind Core, Speed Metal, Hard Core, Anarcho..

And what seems like out of nowhere comes Stench of Humanity! Anarchy rules on this extreme mix of grind core and hard core – the malodour just bites into your flesh as soon as you listen.

As with most grind core albums the tracks last just a fragment of time before finishing and don’t ever give you time to fully engage before moving on to the next track, however, what you get here are quality tracks that are demanding and a gripping mix of vehemence with added elegance!

Balanced within the very core of the first track (Intro) Soulianis and Rahm is a great melodic swagger that whet’s the appetite before the next track Kymatica kicks in and bludgeons the senses. Moving on to Anton’s Key which hits the ground running, the guttural snares lure with instant appeal. The true statement of Everything Means Nothing then appears with two toned vocals of seething screams and low toned malevolence.GSMA hits with a fast frenzied attack on the audial before I fucking hate you with its biting lyrics and wielding madness comes to the forefront and is one very anthemic track that permeates evil vengeance. Horny For Your Death is a hard hitting splurge that lasts a mere 10 seconds so don’t blink or you will miss it! Brainwashed allows the listener a good 2 minutes to feast on its archaic structure and monumental chugs before unleashing a pure stringed arrangement that is beautifully melodic, before Perception Synthesis unleashes a dark malevolence that is inspiring as it is gripping. Religion Is Poison yet another true statement, this track is bludgeoning and faster than an express train as it throttles into a thickening smog that devours on impact. Suspension of Disbelief comes hurtling into view and takes no prisoners as the hearty riffs explode amid an air of repugnance that is captured by extremely low and gruff vocal redolence. Your Creation again don’t blink or you will miss the 18 seconds of sheer brutality that scrambles by in a jiffy! Blaspheme and Kill the Moon Godagain surges into a blackened mode of steely attitude and rips you a new one! This Living Hell is the longest track on this FREE album and stalks in a predatory manner until it decides to pick up the pace and run with it – the vocal entourage is deep, dark and as you would expect, but none the less delicious as it sucks the life from your bones amid a ghostly screaming malignancy that is provocative and exciting, and to think this has all been created by one man – Lerch is incredible!
(Outro) Serenity of Despair is an amazingly haunting track that elegantly moves through its paces with grace and ingenuity.

Summary:
This is a compelling album that sweeps through its tracks like a hot knife through butter but has been created with a lot of thought and experimentation. Although some of the tracks are over before they have a chance to get going within each of them is a creative enterprise that won’t go unnoticed with the grinders among us.

The diversity comes as the final track plays out where haunting strings and a more tempered vocal reaches out in a bid to flavour the proceedings with sheer calm from an unearthly storm that is felt within the rest of the album.

Lerch says he is a loser who couldn’t find band mates at the time of writing, but I disagree – anyone who can put together an album of this quality is no loser and sometimes it is easier to do things yourself as then you get the desired effects how you want them to sound, and Lerch has done this to perfection.

Genre: NWOBHM/Speed Thrash

Biography:
“Kaine are a leading force in the British Metal Revival formed in 2009 by Rage Sadler (rhythm guitars & vocals) and Dan Mailer (bass guitar & vocals). The band is a NWOBHM inspired 5 piece which offers a tri-guitar attack.

Kaine have played close to 200 shows and has supported some of the best known acts past and present such as NWOBHM legends Praying Mantis, Dennis Stratton (Iron Maiden), Deep Machine and American Thrash legends Mordred as well as current acts such as Savage Messiah, Absolva (ex-Fury UK) and ZP Theart’s I-AM-I (ex-Dragonforce).

The band was voted the GMA Breakthrough U.K. band of the year in 2013. The results were Kaine (15%), The Defiled (14%), Fallen Fate (13%) and Wretched Soul (12%).
Kaine completed two tours in 2014 the first alongside Monument (featuring ex-White Wizard members) and the second supporting Mordred on their 10 date reunion O2 Academy tour of Britain and Ireland.

In 2014 the band released its second album “The Waystone”. The album was recorded at Angry Bee Studios in London and produced by Akis K (RIP 2015) and mastered by Z-Plane. The album sold out of the first pressing during the pre-order phase and the lead single “Iron Lady” has over 6k views on YouTube. The second pressing of the album subsequently sold out also!”

~~~~~~~~
The Kings of NWOBHM are back! With a new single entitled‘Quality of Madness’ and quality it is for Sure? This single released with the new line-up consisting of (Davids/MacKinnon/Mailer/Murch/Sadler) a true force to be reckoned with. Recorded live at Short Stack Studios and produced/mastered by Jaz Powell.
The powerful chugs that emanate from this single are nothing but pure metal in every sense of the word. It’s a creative melting pot of sturdy rhythmic slabs of genius! Instantly engaging and forthright it holds its own and turns hellacious within seconds of pressing the play button!
Kaine’s intent is pretty clear as they mesmerise through a hail of riffs that rips you a new one!
It is a crisp display of sheer metal arrogance. Since the band’s first early self-titled E.P release, I have been proud to say I am hooked on their sheer thirst for proving a point.
The rampant brawl of intense riffs and feisty beats are prevalent through-out and give the listener a knee jerk to the gut! The vocals by Rage are healthily gripping and sit perfectly over the jarring rhythmic swagger that simply bursts from its confines and punishes on all levels.
Kaine have come a long way since forming in 2009 and have over the last few years grown in stature and now producing excellent quality material that is ripe for metal ears.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“This is a superb single that deserves attention - If you want to do something good this year then add this to your CD collection!!”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From being intense from the off Kaine are a band that are never likely to let the grass grow under their feet, if something can be obtained it will be and done with exacting precision which makes Kaine a league above the rest.
This single at 6 minutes and 30 seconds is a riveting composition that has bags of allure and appeal and will have your hair flying in seconds of hearing it.  The fact they have added another guitar and become this tri-guitar attack has certainly pumped yet more adrenalin into an already ‘fit to burst’ volatile mix!
Kaine are now well on the road to becoming the next Iron Maiden but much, much better (in my opinion)
These guys deliver the goods and are no nonsense in approach! Great in a studio setting but far more grandiose in a live one!
This is a superb single that deserves attention - If you want to do something good this year then add this to your CD collection!!
Genre: Black, Blues Heavy Rock, Dark Old School Metal
Discography:
Garden of Darkness January 2014
Of my Sins September 2013
Biography:
“Blacken Light cast its first shadow in June of 2011 as a solo project to continue making Metal Music after a long Hiatus from the scene. With Influences that Include Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Pantera, Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica, Kansas and many more, Blacken Light is continuing the Old School Metal tradition.
This is a Metal/Blues Song that tells the story of how a man struggles to exist, rather than live, his life!”
With this ever evolving world we live in, among chaos and turmoil it is comforting to think that when something changes, if ever so slightly, it can be for the good and Russ Hulett has been quite clever in adding changes while still keeping a foot wedged in the door of traditional old school metal.
This track is without a doubt old school, there’s no getting away from that, but added into its familiar guise is a flavour of blues. The hard hitting riffs are dynamic with a sleazy vocal and tempered beats.
The grooves are deep but are still slick and flow endlessly throughout the tracks entirety. It reawakens the past with energy and flavoursome layers built into its chunky structures.
The mellifluous melody is heavily blues laden giving it that flowing ebb while the electric guitar wreaks havoc so all in all, it is an intoxicating listen that grows from familiar riffs that are deep rooted.
Blacken Light’s other tracks are very different to the above and are darker in tone and mood casting an ambient shadow across a well-travelled path.
Lyrics
Got this feeling
Shakes me to
The core
A hollow emptiness
That I cannot
Ignore
I am Mired
In a Dire
Situation
Remaining silent
In this quiet
Desperation
My life needs Baptized
Cleansed of all
This pain
Another sacrifice
Of the soul
That still remains
Life’s for the living
Not the
Dead and gone
Pick up the pieces now
It's time that
You moved on yeah
{Chorus}
Grab hold of the future
Let go of the past
The life you think unending
Maybe running out to fast
It's hard to get a grip
When there's nothing left to hold
Living in the moment
Let the truth be told
{Bridge}
Life moves on without me
No looking back
Like a soul that's breakin'
Train wreck rollin' off the track
{Guitar Solo}
{Chorus}
The future in my sights
Yet somehow out of range
So tired of this life being
Disassembled, rearranged
Shackled by the past
I know I'm here to stay
Don't look past my tomorrows
I just manage the decay ~ manage the decay
{Faster Tempo}
Loneliness is here to today
Here to stay
Loneliness is here to today
All my life it's been this way
It's sad to say
All my life it's been this way
Choices made along the way
I'll have to pay
Choices made along the way
Managing my life's decay
My life's decay
Managing my life's decay
Serpentyne
Myths & Muses
11 Track Album
Serpentyne Music
Polymath
Released 5th November 201
Tremendous album!!
Serpentyne – London, UK
Links:
Genre: Neo-Folk Techno-Mythic Rock!
Biography:
“Serpentyne was created in London in 2010 by founder members Maggie-Beth Sand and Mark Powell, inspired by a combination of early music, folk, Celtic, world and rock.
They recorded their first album, "Stella Splendens" that year, basing it on traditional mediaeval texts and tunes from England, Spain and France, arranged in their own style and blending instruments such as cittole, hurdy-gurdy, harmonium, portative organ, medieval drums, crumhorns, recorders, and Maggie's voice.
Serpentyne has now grown into a 6 to 8 piece band and has now released its second album, "Myths & Muses" which is based on medieval, traditional and mythic themes, this album has a stronger rock element!”
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Occasionally an album gets sent over that you simply cannot ignore and this is one such time. Serpentyne have created an amazing album that uses instruments that aren’t in every day use like the Didgeridoo, Horns, Cittole, Bouzouki, Nickelharpa and Hurdy Gurdy, and composed 11 of the most beautifully inspiring tracks ever.
Although you will have your favourites, but each time you listen to a track you can hear various sounds that don’t normally hear on an album and that is diversity to the max!
The mere fact the band incorporate techno with folk is something to behold and you don’t have to dig deep to appreciate it!
A Rosebud in June
A luminous light shines from the sky above angelic voices. The earthy tones and lilting rhythms fit like a jig saw puzzle. The blend of some unheard of musical instruments keeps the medieval theme alive, so throw caution to the wind and get involved in its joyous sounds.
Alexandria
The unusual sounds of a hurdy gurdy and mature female vocal is likely to send shivers down your spine. The tones and jaunty rhythms are diverse and interesting within the confines of the tracks and indeed very catchy.
Boudicca
This track just bristles with creativity and magic and sweeps you back to ancient times. The haunting vocal is tempered as well as dynamic amid a skittish array of foot tapping melodies, glorious harmonies and hooks to match, that are brilliantly executed and my favourite track so far.
Superb track!
Douce Dame Jolie
Gentle flute floats on a bed of dark ambient sound and sung in French adds that seductive touch. The rhythms sway carries you into a dream-like world of imagination and rich landscapes.
Freya’s Firedance
Straight away this captures the soul and imagination with its rumbling rhythmic coaxing and outstanding melodic combat! It’s distinctive, exciting and totally unpredictable! The lilting female voices shroud the track in a hazy intrigue that is pure bliss to experience.
Gaudette
Takes its time and holds a rather sinister edge with single bells tolling amid gentle harmonic voices – it does sound rather sad and poignant unlike the previous track, although it picks up pace a little further on when male voice join in the harmonies.
Hymn to Cynthia
Another wave of bubbling rhythms with flute and organ and a host of other unmentionable instruments come into play. The track employs a haunting ambience that is amazingly uplifting.
____________________________________________________________
“The passion simply oozes from this mesmerising album that is packed with elegant melodies and steely enterprise!”
____________________________________________________________
Je Vivroie Liement
The powerful grip of the track paints an interesting picture of medieval Britain. The harmony and peace is levelled with French lyrics and is a striking piece of writing and musicianship.
Les Garcons de Montagne
The underlying tones of this track breed a certain solitude that allows you to engage in its beauty, until it gathers momentum and throws its own party. The rhythms never lose touch with the listener and sparks up a bond that cannot be severed.
Pastyme with good Company
This has a more modern feel to it even though the same instruments are used to produce the sounds. The beat is fiery and invigorating adding spice as it emotively forges ahead with its embracing fluid structures that are highly provocative.
Another terrific track!
Valkyries
This track again offers a more modern twist of sound with edgy beats and permeates an appealing captivation that absorbs the senses and emotions. It lays down taunting melodies and sweet angelic voices that melt with the tumultuous rhythms.
Summary:
A highly unusual album that gnaws at the ear lobes and captivates with a full on presence.
It simply keeps your mind, body and soul engaged and fully occupied as the haunting contagious rhythms encompass you and make you obey their rules.
It invades with crippling effect as the sounds are compelling and expressive and so draw you into their tempting medieval melodies.
It is virtually impossible not to get caught up in this album as track after track is like a magnet it seduces and pulls you toward its dramatic encounters. Serpentyne are indeed a force to be reckoned with and offer some mature sounds that demand attention and will certainly get it!
The lingering sounds are captivating in all the right places and an inspiring listen.  Personally I can listen to this all night – although my favourite tracks are ‘Boudicca’ and ‘Pastyme with good Company’ because of the vibrant rhythms that have your body under strict control but still allowing your mind to wander.
The passion simply oozes from this mesmerising album that is packed with elegant melodies and steely enterprise.
Biography:
Dead Asylum formed in Vancouver, BC at the end of 2011, featuring vocalist/guitarist Mike Lister, vocalist/guitarist Tyler Forde, Bassist Tyler (Shit) Meierhofer and drummer Samantha Landa.  Dead Asylum’s style spans the spectrum of metal-combining elements of thrash and death with melodic and grooving overtones and echo elements of band influences such as Kreator, Amon Amarth and Exodus.
From the first metal gorged riff this album intrigues and demands attention!
It is surprising to learn that the band employ a female drummer whose abilities cast no doubt that she knows her stuff and makes everything look so damn easy! And therefore a real asset and credit to  Dead Asylum.
I do not have the first track of the bands prestigious album so we will start with the second track “Ashes of the Saviours”what an amazing track this is. The vocals are low epic growls that have their own force field! The rhythms bounce uncontrollably in a vibrant seethe of creativity.
“Hate Revolution” plumbs for a magnetic twang of deep resonance with tribalistic beats and finger cutting riffs that do the track plenty of justice. The musical journey is laced with an intrepid coaxing of sonic bass hooks and gravelled undertones that work superbly well together.
Beat hungry Hate Revolution
“Payable in Blood” opens with a ravenous riff blending into a melodic teasing that contrasts with deep hungry guttural secretions that simply attack on listening. Lister’s vocal range can in fact reaches the murky depths as well as skims the skyline. “Choke” holds a prime evil feel that surrounds the senses in a bid to exact revenge on its listening victims and in scathing fashion simply annihilates them. “Machines” is a track that offers some lyrical squalls and intense vehement growls that are backed up in epic proportions by a bludgeoning drum beat, enhanced further by large gaping riffs that leave scorch marks imprinted on your mind. “Everything Dead” flows like an active volcano spewing out its molten rock and smothering all it touches. Aggressive and ravenous it finds its way into the aural cavities and simply mocks them.  “Flames of Brutality”possesses an epic start with riffs that paint a glorious backdrop of remarkable and powerful delivery.
Summary:
“Whatever I say about this album would never do it real justice. Raw emotion just explodes through-out each track and engages on all levels possible! Again the vocal scathing is savage and delivers a blow that is an extremely necessary experience to savour!”
Like a lot of bands who play host to having a female musician in their midst Dead Asylum play their trump card without being flash or over-zealous, and being brutal and savage comes as second nature to them all.
I should well imagine that when Dead Asylum gets on stage I think it is very safe to say that there would be a fair lot of ‘general carnage’ in the shape of flailing bodies and heaps of hair!
The band comes across musically as impressive, dynamic and extremely aggressive, add in intrusive and absorbing making it a pretty awesome listen despite the tracks sounding similar, their style of music is already distinct and with that in mind it is a recipe everyone will want in abundance. Just a shame about the cover not being as dramatic as the tracks contained inside it! Otherwise – perfect!!
Inacave
Self Titled, Debut
11 Track Album
To be released 28th April 2015
Out soon!
Inacave – Cøpenhagen, Denmark
Links:
Genre: Metal with bite!
Biography:
Recently formed in January 2012 ‘Inacave’ hail from the Scandinavian Viking territories of Denmark and so naturally you expect the best and that is exactly what you get!
Weight of the Boulder
Scales the depths with rigorous riffs that boldly house a volatile leaning and unveils a fast and profound run of enthusiastic rhythms that brood under a deep malevolent vocal edge that is constantly enthralling.
Mountain Throne
This sneaky track engages first and foremost with a powerful riff that sonically embeds itself into the brain with a rather caustic effect and boasts a real onslaught that is literally capable of murder!
Master
Kick beats a plenty here that reign down over the proceedings in more than just a sweet skirmish but locks horns in a bid to intimidate. Its character is muscle bound and deadly!
Enlightenment Part I
Is a rather eerie ambient run of sinister madness weaving slowly and holding a deviant prowess?  It is blues orientated however; its dark magic is quite simply irresistible.
Enlightenment Part 2
The rhythmic wonders are balanced by the ripe vocal chords of iron lunged Daniel Lønberg who it seems, has befriended Satan and exacts revenge on the un-weary! It leaves nothing but unbridled bloodshed in its wake and is far removed from the previous track.
------------------------------------------------
“It is one beast of an album that compels with rich lures and gives the ears a good old battering – quite an achievement in just three years!”
------------------------------------------------
Anoxia
Is a rampaging twist of deep scarring beauty as it mesmerises with fathomless bass hooks and a gruff damming vocal luring. The drumming is bludgeoning and joined by a torrent of riffs that antagonise to the point of sheer aggression.
When
In comes the familiar squeal of guitar riffs that batter the senses in an all-out brawl of malignancy. The bellowing growls are hearty and steadfast as well as extremely impressive.
Frame the Memory
This track heads straight for the jugular and gets right under the skin and will for any metal head that likes their metal raucous and out of control will soothe even the most savage breast! The ravenous chunks of ferocity rears its head make no mistake!
Live in Regret
Is another fast track that digs its own path with a magnetic passion that rhythmically soars to great heights? It evolves into a primal lust that breeds contempt while at the same time creates a sonic landscape.
Dirt
Bridges the gap with a torrent of blasting beats that bite into the psyche like a hungry and rabid dog! Like with most of the tracks before it, explores a vivacious and yet psychopathic nature.
Waters
Doggedly determined to ravish and infect the emotions on a gigantic scale, this track extracts a riveting malice that is infused with humongous guttural savagery.
Summary:
It is hardly surprising that ‘Inacave’ have produced a predatory and delicious selection of tracks that hold no bounds and exceeds expectations. They are from Viking stock after all and therefore typical of producing a wild orgy of pleasure for the audial!
These guys don’t just compose metal they forge a cast iron fist over proceedings and never stop exploring the harsher side of their talent.
It is one beast of an album that compels with rich lures and gives the ears a good old battering – quite an achievement in just three years.
The journey ‘Inacave’ are on is a rich and rewarding one but one that is going to produce more savagery as the band grows in strength if that is possible as they are the high end of their game at the moment!
This is a highly satisfying album with lots to savour and embrace although it runs with typical scathing slabs of rhythmic metal it also showcases a mellower side and therefore has potential to create further diversity down the line!
Excelsior Mali Formidi
However you want to tag this band they certainly hold epic and symphonic encounters that on some occasions such as this track that steers it away from the traditional heavy metal style, but it has the ability to intrigue and makes you want to explore the bands other realms.
Three new members practicing to join Evil Scarecrow
Rise
This track visits its roots and forges ahead with an energetic prowl of blackened symphonic metal that strides into the limelight with a hypnotic melodic core and brazen guitars that creates plenty of noise!
Space Dementia
This track takes a journey into the unknown with its space theme.  The torrential keyboard notes flow freely and give it an ‘airy’ feel, while the guitars drag the composition into a ‘black hole’ allowing the listener to explore further.
Galacticus
This track is rather melodic, even tempered and amenable, despite the symphonic avenues that create a creepy feel to the proceedings. It is a predatory track that adds a three dimensional layer into its fold.
Crabulon
The underlying heavy tones are urgent and fierce with the chanting of ‘Crabulon’ added to its endeavours. Sung in a harsh growling vocal it impressively keeps on giving with equal amounts of relentlessness which when sung live has audiences scuttling around sideways in crab-like mode or so I am led to believe!
FranKingstein’s Mirror
The evil sounds converge on the aural while a magnitude of rhythms and notes blend into one powerfully urgent and delirious track. It doesn’t move away from its comfort zone but what it does offer is a certain unbridled passion that lures you its muscular stride.
Book of Doom
With a manic approach and a crazed vocal, of course you can still feel the ‘tongue in cheek’ eccentricity of the band through its commotion and confrontation, but there is a serious edge that is darker and moves within a great force field.
Dance of the Cyclops
This one definitely hosts a rather schizophrenic attitude as the rhythms pound into devilish turmoil that is instantly appealing. Its hypnotic effects twist and turn into an absolute ‘funny farm’ while still being plausible to be under a heavy metal tag.
------------------------------------------------
“Evil Scarecrow have well and truly planted the seeds that have given them the room to grow and the chance to blossom!”
------------------------------------------------
End Level Boss
Highly flirtatious and wild it begins, the fragments of metal soar above some bristling symphonic keys that tread the boards amid some perplexing sounds – it is a great tirade of madness no matter which way you look at it.
Flight of the Dragons
This one has eerie tones steeped in creepiness made prominent from sharp strings and harmonic chants. The heavy gruff tones once again show a darker side and with rapturous drumming the composition turns into a maelstrom of tumultuousness.
When Moses goes wrong
The hair literally stands up on your arms when listening to this and there is also an uneasy feeling that creates sharp stabs down the backbone. The music draws you into its contaminated venture and pulsates with a chilling rampancy.
Enter the Nightmare
The sultry strings flow seamlessly along with high powered beats that lie behind some crazed gravelled vocals. It gains momentum in an instant and unravels into a feverish reward of sheer and unadulterated luxury.
Summary:
Behind the ‘tongue in cheek’ moments, and the fact Evil Sarecrow could be deemed a joke band, there are in fact five serious musicians who have endeavoured to compose highly inspiring tracks and have accomplished their goal on this delicious 12 track album.
It holds its seductive side really well and is equally passionate delivering a blistered edge and darker moments entwined within its unusual muscular structure.
Evil Scarecrow have well and truly planted the seeds that have given them the room to grow and the chance to blossom.
There is plenty on the album for you to acquire that self-indulgent moment where you can just close your eyes and visit another dimension without leaving the comfort of your armchair.
There are obvious black metal traits to be heard throughout the passages and subsequently throughout the whole album, but nobody is complaining because of the infectious appetite the album possesses and of course it has its silly moments that allows for the listener to enjoy a light reprieve before tensing up to the aggressive side the band has.
So all in all, and everything considered Evil Scarecrow(surprisingly British) tick all the boxes for me, holding gnarly low toned vocals and rich, melodic keyboards, throw in a bit of ‘happy fun’ and of course some energetic metal and that’s me well and truly satisfied. After all what’s metal without a sense of humour?
Biography
“Hamerex, a heavy metal band formed in 2004, have released their second album IX. While their first album, 'Rites of Passage', was well received by many reviewers and fans alike, 'IX' has so far surpassed itself, being dubbed by fans as a "Masterpiece" and a "Work of Art" while receiving many stunning reviews and being called "one of the most outstanding albums of 2013"
Reign of Fire
I think the guys can be proud of this track as it picks up steam and rises to the challenge of being just one that can be classed as ‘well worthy!’
Since losing Chris Moules on vocals Steve has stood up to the plate and combined his energetic guitar work along with becoming the voice behind Hamerex.
“What I love most about Hamerex is the way they display poignant strings with bone crushing moments so it isn’t just one thing you get but a combination of everything!”
__________________________________________________________
What makes this track so moreish is that feverish constant chug that immediately kicks up a storm and reels you in.  The heart of the track is melodic and fiery and unleashes a predatory assault on the ears.
It twists and thrusts compel and excite as they build to an all-out thunderous climax! The guitar work is deftly carved and offers slower moments along with faster more voracious offerings.
The obvious determination and passion exuded through-out this track is quite simply ‘perfection!’ While the heavy beats are immaculate and sharp and combined with a strong vocal and corrosive rhythm it is indeed very moreish!
Hamerex are now in their eleventh year and are growing stronger by the minute and this track proves the fact! The relentless hypnotic emotions are rife with creativity.
What I love most about Hamerex is the way they display poignant strings with bone crushing moments so it isn’t just one thing you get but a combination of everything!
It is an impacting track that is well worth a listen or six! And this track has been played a lot more than six times as it is catchy and compelling and forges the way ahead for the next offering from Hamerex.
This track alone will leave you feeling satisfied! I have pre-ordered my copy of the new EP of which this track is featured and believe me I can’t wait to receive it!
Black Diamond just seemed to appear out of nowhere and caused such a large ripple that very quickly turned into a gigantic wave!
I first experienced the band live at Parr Studios 13.8.14 and again at the 02 on the 24.9.14. Seeing Black Diamond for the first time was just NOT enough so I was chuffed to go and see them play live again just over a month later.
On the first time seeing the band I was amazed at their ages just 15 to 17 but the professionalism shown by these four energetic rockers was truly amazing.
Diamond Geezers!
Paddy Cummins, Adam Fairclough, Daniel Byrne and Seb Gibney
Since being sent a link by Daniel the bands voice and frets I haven’t stopped playing it!
“Stranglehold” released just yesterday is just so catchy, hard-hitting and really ‘in your face’ When the band played live they played a few covers but as I pointed out to them at the time – their music is much more important and should be explored.
This track showcases the band superbly well and proves they have come a long way in such a short space of time.
“Their music a thick slab of mouth-watering rock with impacting bite and every bit as seductive! It invigorates and invites you into a raging frenzy!”
_____________________________________________________________
The music is much more powerful and Daniel’s velvet vocals have taken a rough and ready turn – for the better!
As with a lot of bands their line-up has changed slightly seeing the departure of Jamie Alsamarraie – Drums, and Tom McGrath – Bass, but the music keeps coming in abundance and with fresher creativity.
Predatory rhythms smack with a hungry excitement and captivate through-out the track – just one play is never enough as with Black Diamond the addiction grows!
The growling riffs and huge hooks play out with equal addiction.  The strength and drive from Black Diamond is an emotional and super-charged swagger of mesmerising rock that gets under your skin and explodes!
Their music a thick slab of mouth-watering rock with impacting bite and every bit as seductive! It invigorates and invites you into a raging frenzy.
Black Diamond are explosive – so check out the video and go and see the band live any chance you get as these guys will never disappoint!
Genre: Extreme Metal
Biography:
“Christophe Helwin and his brother Thyr started WITHDRAWNin 2004. After two demos and some touring across the land, the album "Skulls of the weak" is recorded at Echoes Studio and Dome Studio, mixed and mastered by David Potvin. Released in 2009 on Another Sphere Records, the album got a lot of great reviews. The band played live with guitar session members until Michel Hoareau and Jérôme Guellerin (ex-Bliss of Flesh) joined officially the brothers. The band release the new full length album "The Strongest Will" recorded at Echoes Studio, mixed and mastered at Drudenhaus Studio. Still more straight and violent, the new songs will hit your face really soon on stage!”
Slaves Grinding Machine
This track gives off really urgent vibes and holds a frenzied approach. This is where the drummer loses the plot and is driven by an overpowering urge to create rivets of sheer potency with each beat!
Plague Stricken Years
Batten down the hatches!! Rich in rhythmical madness this track delves deep into barbed twists of hostility. The malevolent vibes give off an eerie atmosphere and the spiked toxic growls leave the listener mesmerised.
Relentless Fear Hammer
Crushing and surging with sultry endeavour this track ignites into a feverish storm of malignance. Its strong and appealing riffs will melt your face off!
Summary:
Three powerfully engaging tracks taunt, tease and flourish with excitement. The throaty gargled blasts of vocal seethe with rage and fueled with anger come pouring out of the speakers with challenging turbulence.
All three tracks vary in raging madness with ‘Relentless Fear Hammer’ being the most prominent, sculpting its way along a stormy terrain.
Definitely three gruesome tracks that captivate and fully engage, showcasing the bands wildest musical adventures.
Genre: Blackened Death Metal
Biography:
“Formed in 2008, DEMENTED are a French Extreme Metal band essentially death metal that hasn't stopped to sharpen their style over the years with the aim of always making more personal music, darker powerful and more vindictive.
DEMENTED has done many gigs on several French tours and participated in many large festivals. The band has shared the stage with bands such as Sceptic Flesh, Napalm Death, Hatesphere, Benighted, Onslaught, Asphyx, Loudblast, Dagoba, Eths, Blockheads, Black Bomb A, Aosoth, Svartcrown, Gorod, Klone, Kronos, Pitbulls in the Nursery, Livarkahil, Necroblaspheme, Supuration, Born from Pain, Debauchery, Aqme, The Arrs, and many others...!”
Mystical Experience
Heavy footed, slow and deliberate this one kicks up a storm of mighty thought provoking moments that the listener can indulge in. The texture of the track is a feverish blaze of potent melodies.
Clear-minded
Emotionally atmospheric and pensive, it ignites in stages so prolonging the intensity. It is predatory and stalks its victims with a gleeful caress. The potency of the track is at maximum and gives out plenty of bite in which to immerse the senses.
The Way
The fast bludgeoning beats and sharp strings tease and engage in a dark frenzy that soon explodes into a fraught intoxication. The vocals sound like they are gargled through shards of glass which make the track imposing and unique.
Summary:
Again three more tracks that deliver the goods with a resounding success! The energy is levelled by potency and smothered with caustic throaty lures that beckon with malice.
The final track is haunting with swathes of bone chilling character. Further on in the final track the pace is turned up a notch and fires on all cylinders. Damming with a fiery heart it imposes a deranged vibe that cuts with brutal imagination and will leave one truly satisfied!
Cover Art by STRYCHNEEN STUDIO
Produced by L .CHUCK D
Genre: Death Metal
Biography:
“France is at it again ‘turfing’ out premium death metal bands and Great Dane Records are just as busy signing them up. Still I have to say that there aren’t many bands that GDR have signed up that are NOT worth their weight in gold and all are supreme contenders to win awards at very least!
The Mysterious GhUSA
GhUSa however, are very secretive about their names appearing on the album covers.   They have been around since 1991/92 and their old school death metal can be likened to that of dark and heavy Swedish style!”
CD 1 Come Sweet Death
Casket Garden (DISMEMBER cover)
Scathingly raw and brutal with sheer ravines of metal embedded in every note!
No God for the Living
Violates the senses on all levels with a heaving mass of debauched metal that strikes fear into the hearts of all who are brave enough to listen! The blistering madness is showcased by some superb fretwork and deep scarring vocals.
Blessed Be (ENTOMBED cover)
Let the carnivals carnivores embrace the soul! Launching into a predictable melee of ravaging abrasions and grizzly vocal rampage – this will warm the blood somewhat!
Genocide
The sharpness of the frets gives this track a clear edge. It holds quite a sullen sludgy feel to it, although it picks up pace to one of sheer mesmeric proportions and gallops to a scorching conclusion.
Soulless (GRAVE cover)
Although another cover, nobody can take away from the gory magnificence witnessed when listening to this compelling track. Toxic from start to finish.
CD 2 Letter to my Sons
The Nail
The glorious thumps of madness continues on the second CD and rips into a lingering, blazing of raw passion. Uncompromising and driven with a powerful energy.
I’m not the only one
Another raucous, blasting and engaging track that slows briefly to show off solid bass hooks and pulverising guitar. The grizzly vocal onslaught adds a deep resonance and brings the track together superbly.
Letter to my Son (s)
A twisting and winding track that bruises with a sonic addiction of deliberate notes that are unpredictable. The deep howling growls lick the ears and add a fearsome vibe to the overall track.
Violation Domain (BENEDICTION cover)
The harshness of this track is swift and unbridled. Its thunderous rhythms are intense and forthright, bringing satisfaction to the listener as they are encompassed in the fracas.
Nechama (Jon's Song)
Driven by a beast the energy is untamed and wild just as the vocals take on a sour, scathing and putrid lure. The music is all out damming and raw, asserting an evil and dark presence.
Punctual Choice
Quite an unusual track with soft stringed accompaniment and soft deeper vocals.  However, it still offers challenges despite being slower in pace it gathers momentum and forges ahead with its brutal regime.
The Colour
The bluntness of the track is released through deep and powerful rhythms that ignite into a frenzy and unhampered by a grazing vocal that engages vivaciously and of course ravenously!
The Wind
Imposing and harsh with no let up from its vice like grip – it is rhythmic and addictive in a somewhat cold manner! It holds plenty of toxic fascination as the music plows on.
Silence
No silence can be found anywhere on this track – in case you were wondering.  It is just as deep, dark and foreboding as the rest of the tracks on the CD. It almost licks its lips to devour the senses in an all-out brawl of infectious persistence.
-----------------------------------------------
“It is one devil of an album for sure.  The blackness swamps and chokes with great ingenuity.  The madness is prevalent and protrudes devilishly as each string hammers out its gritty and potent offerings!”
-----------------------------------------------
Ru486 (E.P 2002)
Another brazing and solid track that eats you from the inside out in one of the most stupendous tracks heard so far. The vocals are so deep they leave scars! This track intimidates and shows no sign of slowing down!
The Warrior (E.P 2002)
This track expels harsh throaty lures and strings that sound like they have come from Satan himself, and they may have done! The evil protrudes from every note. Guaranteed to inflame the audial!
Promo Tape 1994
This track holds chilling keyboard and somber strings that together make the hairs on your head stand bolt upright! The bass is chunky as the vocals are snarling. Great to end on.
Summary:
From start to finish this two CD offering will captivate and enthral. For me personally those deep hearty vocal growls really heat the blood. The bass works overtime along with the guitar and the drums offer some great creativity.
It is one devil of an album for sure.  The blackness swamps and chokes with great ingenuity.  The madness is prevalent and protrudes devilishly as each string hammers out its gritty and potent offerings.
The pumping heartbeat at the end of CD 2 is not an exaggeration as this is how your heart will feel at the end. The blood will course around your veins as the music takes you over.  The deep cavernous rhythms are driven with feistiness and tough groove.
25 Years of death metal is simply not enough – here’s to the next 25!!
Genre: Brutal Death Metal
Biography:
“Founded in 2000, the corrosively expressive band Recueil Morbide have carved a path for themselves after being plucked by Great Dane Records - have now released their fifth album entitled “Morbid Collection” its brutal entrails are savaged by captivating seething vocals of madness, in the form of fast guitars that squeal in urgent pain that hold an ever increasing malevolent vibe!”
Ritual Time
Can be described as a barbarous intense flurry of agitation that foams at the mouth! The heinous growls and fast paced stabs of commanding energy gathers momentum rather fiercely and never gives in to the overwhelming frenzy that awaits as soon as your finger presses ‘play’
We harvest what we sow
Another emerging and bruising track that is a full on assault to the senses. The alluring appeal for me are the swelling growls and wind tunnel screams that wash over me in a tidal wave of ferocious glory.
Belated Revenge
Another fast runner with heart battering melody and kicking it up another notch are the superb drum beats and manipulative guitars, great combination for a winning track!
Chronicle of a decline perversion
Razor sharp and deadly from the word go with strong melody and blunt force vocals showing its spirited side and staying under the skin agitating and creating a dramatic and intense scenario.
Chronicle of a decline Obsession
Powerful, intense and forthright.  This track gathers a radiating heat that rises early on and just gets hotter! It is embedded with passion and holds a deep and masterful guise.
Unconsciously
Harsher and vehement this one gets you in a head lock almost immediately and doesn’t let go from its vice like grip! It torments and then suddenly faint whispers are heard, the music slows, a baby cries and a malignant growl takes over. The demonic is once more prevalent.
_____________________________________________________________
“For lovers of extreme and brutal death metal Recueil Morbideare band to be explored if not already! The album erupts and ignites through intimidating and imposing encounters!”
_____________________________________________________________
With his Hate
Certainly no let up here as track after track batters and attacks the senses in an all-out battle of wits plus musical connotations! The clean vocals don’t really do the track any favours if I am perfectly honest, but thankfully the demonic growls and pig squeals are rife and the sonic mesmerising guitars are just bursting with energy.
Intolerance to Frustration
A volcanic eruption can be likened to this track as it kicks off – in full flow it is likely to take not one but quite a few houses down! With its own frustrations domineering the track.
Nightmarish Collapse
Brutish and compelling the scourging vocal edge rasps like it is its last while the music’s sharp and voracious pounding is seductive and exhaustively gripping.
The suffering remains
Dynamic and enjoyable it festers under the skin and explodes into a frenzy of madness! The intimidating formula of guttural lows and scourging highs just infects the ears with a volatile embrace.
Travel to see
This track is more deliberate and slower although not without its growling bear tendencies and harsh pounding beats. It signifies the end of a fantastic album of seething delights.
Summary:
For lovers of extreme and brutal death metal Recueil Morbideare band to be explored if not already! The album erupts and ignites through intimidating and imposing encounters.
Vocally flexible and it offers a primal lust that is really hard to ignore. Enhancing their faultless reputation Recueil Morbidecan walk away happy knowing they have created one beast of an album! Making it a no brainer for recommendation!
Speed Kills
With an apt title the speed that emanates and radiates from this track invites a pure fuel pumped adrenalin that will certainly kill! And is just as hot as the guys playing it! The antagonistic strikes of deadly metal erupts feverishly into a molten stream of hot lava that is quickly carried along on a gritty vocal. The whole track pulsates with full blooded malevolence!
Conquer the Throne
Bristling with an overwhelming passion the swipes of rhythms protrude savagely as the bludgeoning beats ferociously attack and assault wildly! The melodic core is saturated with a keen enthusiastic intervention. It is mesmerizing with biting essences that deepen the hunger for more.
------------------------------------------------
“Meridium’s music is addictive, extremely pleasurable to wallow in and they make the whole experience lively and energetic. I just can’t sit still while listening to this, and the first thing I want to do as each track ends is press the repeat!”
------------------------------------------------
Walk the Plank
More chugging goodness to be had as the intimidating riffs languish in a tidal wave of sheer satisfaction. The feisty rhythms are scorching and brutal and really whet the appetite. The smoldering radiance has heaps of energy along with blistering beats that command the head to move! Further on in the track it quietens down to reveal some very sophisticated strings that play out to its ‘untimely’ end. (Time to hit the repeat!)
Summary:
It is with great pleasure that I have got to listen to these guys because they really pump adrenalin around the body at a race of knots!
Their music is addictive, extremely pleasurable to wallow in and they make the whole experience lively and energetic. I just can’t sit still while listening to this, and the first thing I want to do as each track ends is press the repeat.
The three tracks are all just mouth-watering and deserve to be in every true metal-heads collection.
With tempting captivation this three track E.P holds plenty of tenacity while simultaneously offering gritty melody that tantalizes in humongous amounts.
Mentally Defiled – Athens, Greece
Links:
https://www.facebook.com/MentallyDefiledOfficial
Discography:
The Thrash Brigade - EBM Record Re-release 2011 – debuted May 2009
Genre: Thrash Metal
Biography:
“Mentally Defiled are a Greek thrash metal band formed in 2001. The band was founded by Alex (Guitars), George "IronBeast"(Vocals) and George Efstathiou. (Guitars). Originally started as a cover band but later on created their own music influenced mostly by old-school metal bands!”
Reanimate to Mosh
The gargling putridity spills over the edges as this track gains power with chugging effect and sheer brutality! It surges with fast momentum as you would expect and doesn’t disappoint onany level guaranteed!
Superb!
Aptitude for Elimination
The title track surges into oblivion taking with it the charred remains of the audial canal! Feisty fast and with deadly reverence, which in turn will have you pumping the volume to a dangerous level. The sledgehammer attack is depraved and extremely volatile.
Fashion Victim
The futile escape for thrash heads is prevalent as the raucous slurry descends in an all-out brawl of madness! If this track could run, it would cause a blackening haze within seconds although it does not obscure the hurried tones of Mentally Defiled in any way shape or form!
Forced to Obey
The thudding and crashing fury unleashes another atrocious assault on the ears with deafening effect – maybe I should turn it down a little – but that’s NOT very metal is it? So I will immerse myself into its torrential rhythms further!
Thrash to Afterlife
The fiendish and brutal assault is thrown into a devilish turmoil of battering rhythms and forged beats that simply burn with extreme passion! Vocally grazing and powerful, it takes no prisoners!
Retro Nerd
Interesting title, this one is infused with emotive vileness and scathingly perverse sadistic qualities that mesmerise on listening! Again gathering extremely fast momentum it reaches its climax faster than a screaming bitch!
The Family
Another crushing blow is felt as this track engages and ravages. It is all encompassing and simply chokes and pulverises in equal amounts. Up goes the volume further – I just have to, to soak up the vicious rhythms that send chills down the backbone.
------------------------------------------------
“Hard pushed to pick a favourite among this lot as each track is executed with precision and excitingly gripping passages that leave you awe-struck at the hypersonic madness that transpires!”
------------------------------------------------
Beyond Redemption
Drenched in total hostility, its temptation is quick to draw you in and melt your face! Running with a contagious bait it rips you a new one and intensifies its presence but it won’t take you by surprise after listening to the previous onslaught!
Merchants of Hope
The only track possessing a sampled voice but very fitting for such a savage band who live up to their name! The satisfaction explodes into a fierce tirade that never lets up for a second nor would you want it to!
Soldier of the Underground
This emerges as a speed infused irresistible explosion of sadistic malice. Its deadly and yet charming as it wraps itself around you and squeezes the life blood from your veins which in turn gives it more power to annihilate.
Summary:
How on earth does the band keep up the pace on this gruelling ten track album is anyone’s guess.  It certainly brought me out in a hot sweat as my fingers were flying over the keys trying to keep up the momentum and failing miserably.
The entire album is just mouth-wateringly superb! How I didn’t get into thrash at the time I will never know, as I deeply regret that now.  But onwards and upwards as they say!
In what seems like just a few minutes the album is over, maybe due to the express delivery engaged by the band – could be just one reason, but then it means you can replay it again so all is not lost!
It does generate a glorious rampage that is addictive in every way, and I bet absolutely brilliant as a live act!
Filled with plenty of ‘fuck you’ attitude and rebelliousness it is a definite pleaser in so many ways!
Hard pushed to pick a favourite among this lot as each track is executed with precision and excitingly gripping passages that leave you awe-struck at the hypersonic madness that transpires.
The nimble fingers of George, George and Alex must have set a new world record in speed alone, and no wonder their vocalist calls himself Ironbeast! That goes without saying! His lungs must be made of asbestos!
It is John I feel the most sorry for, setting the violaceous pace with everything he can muster, it must be how the band decided on their name in the first place!
Go on grab yourself a bit of Mentally Defiled and weep!
